Program Overview
The HECCM Certification Program is a four-segment, sixteen-hour educational course designed for directors, bursars, managers and advanced credit professionals. Each module covers critical components for managers to effectively administer their department.

Learning Outcomes
Certification through the HECCM program demonstrates to officials that you, the Higher Education Credit Manager, are credentialed in the subjects necessary to effectively administer your department.

An examination is given and participants that earn a passing grade and have completed the Higher Education Certified Credit Manager program will receive the HECCM Credential and Digital Badge to own and share proudly with colleagues and employers.

Do you have written procedures for everyday functions? Are your Procedures documented so that every time a situation comes up, you and your staff know the policy and how to handle the situation? You should, and in this session we will look at many Procedures that your office deals with and the best way to document and develop policies. The session will be interactive and at the conclusion you will have a Blueprint that can be applied to updating policies and procedures on your Campus.

MGMT-103    Selecting and Working with Vendors
Choosing and Evaluating Collection Agencies in a Higher Education Environment. This is a session that evolved from a series of case studies from the Campus perspective. It will cover:

  • When and How to evaluate new and continuing Collection Partners for contracts
  • Developing and writing Bids, RFP and RFI
  • Evaluating bids and selecting new collection partners
  • Methods to fairly evaluate agency results for future placements
  • Setting expectations and how to make your school a priority

Managers and Collectors will benefit from the information provided in this session.

MGMT-105 Litigation – Pros/Cons and Doing it Yourself
This session will cover the Good, the Bad and the Ugly when it comes to litigation including:

  • Litigation as a viable collection measure, when appropriate
  • Cost effectiveness
  • School image
  • What you’ll need to win your case
  • Procedures to do it yourself

PRCS-103 Outreach
When Student Retention and Student Debt was reigning as key issues on every campus this presentation introduced the thinking behind and process that has helped University Collection Departments find partners in other offices to set records retaining students and resolving their financial issues.

We will discuss:
Cross department teamwork partnering with:

  • Academic departments and advisors
  • Financial aid
  • Computer services
  • Establishing a plan that works from billing through write-off

The presentation will take you from idea through implementation and give you a model that you too can employ

PRCS-101 Office Efficiencies and Process Improvement
This session will help a new leader or a seasoned one take a step back and evaluate if the office is running as efficiently as it could. I will share my experience with overseeing a large team and spotting inefficiencies, service issues, gaps, pain points and areas for improvement.
